If you had the power to create something beautiful, what would you create?
The highest spirit of us all decided to create beautiful Mother Earth and all life that sprang from her fertile womb, in which all life will return.
We, as Earth’s children, decided to stray from her nurturing ways and live in a way that’s unnatural to our being, causing disease, death, and destruction.
Processed food? Vaccines? Money worship? Most of us are guilty of all of it.
To get back to the beautiful state we were created in, we need to go back to our roots, to Mother Nature herself.
But, what does that look like? Well… I finally have an answer for ya.
In my last episode, we talked about traditional holistic healing systems, particularly Traditional Western Medicine and how it’s rooted in the understanding of how we as humans as a whole relate and respond to the environment around us, as well as how we function to ensure health and well-being.
We dove into the Seven Natural Things that constitute the nature of human beings, to which all need to be in balance in order for health and vitality.
The first of the Seven Natural Things is the basic makeup of all that is the universe: the Four Elements.
According to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, everything in the universe is made up of the Four Elements in different proportions.
The Four Elements are:
Air
Fire
Earth
Water
Each of the elements represent the four basic states of matter:
Air = gaseous
Fire = metamorphosis
Earth = solid
Water = liquid
Each of the elements has two of Four Primary Qualities that can be observed interacting in Nature, which give rise to the elemental properties and actions.
The Four Primary Qualities are:
Hot or Cold
Moist or Dry
The active polarity of Hot & Cold refers to the level of activity present in a being or system, while the passive polarity of Moist & Dry refers to the level of moisture present.
Hot implies a high level of activity: it activates, expands, excites, disperses and circulates
Cold implies a low level of activity: it slows, contracts, sedates, obstructs and congeals
Moist implies a high level of moisture: it’s soft, flexible, fluid-like, uniform and flaccid in tone
Dry implies a low level of moisture: its hard, rigid, solid, separate and tight in tone
Again, each of the elements has two of Four Primary Qualities that can be observed:
Air: Hot & Moist. Meaning Air is an active and receptive element. It flows upwards and fills every space; it’s light and thin and porous. Think of the air we breathe.
Fire: Hot & Dry. Meaning Fire is a very active and resistive element. It emits great amounts of energy and transforms. It is absolute lightness, both in the sense of illumination and weight. Think of the brilliant sun.
Earth: Cold & Dry. Meaning Earth is a passive and resistive element. It’s dense, heavy and solidifying; it centers energy and makes things stable and firm. Think of the ground beneath our feet.
Water: Cold & Moist. Meaning Water is a passive and receptive element. It receives and absorbs energy and is easily adaptable; it’s heavy, cooling, and cleansing. Think of the oceans surrounding us.
These four contradictory elements (according to the ancients, and me) make up the whole world and everything in it, including the human body. Therefore, to the ancients, our health was represented by the harmonious unity of the elements in the microcosm of the human body.
Would our Creator really make health that simple?
Song I feel jives well with this episode:
